History of the Francesca Chapel
Completed in 1887, the Francesca Chapel is the oldest, unchanged church building in Waxahachie, Texas. It was designed by the late Bishop Garrett in the shape of a cross. The interior roof supports display gothic revival features that are rare and among the earliest examples of this style. The original altar and prayer benches were handmade, and are still in use.
The Francesca Chapel is used by Saint Athanasius United Anglican Church for Sunday worship services and has proven an ideal setting for numerous wedding ceremonies.
